This winter ice run follows historical water transportation routes on Lake Mälaren from the Viking era, hence the name "Viking Run". Because the temps were too warm in 2000, 2002 and 2008, the run was cancelled but this year it has been very cold, so the event took place on February 14th, 2010. The run is about 80 kilometers or 50 miles and is between Uppsala and Stockholm. The first run was in 1999.
